Whatever the issue, our experienced Employment team can help. We don't sit on the fence: we give straightforward advice and find you the right solution.

Employment law is fast-changing and complex. It can be a minefield for businesses, with serious consequences - reputational, professional and financial - if you get it wrong. We work with our clients to take the pain out of employment issues.

We make sure our clients have the right foundations in place, with contracts, policies and incentive schemes tailored to their needs.   We enable them to grow their businesses  and workforces through investment, mergers and acquisitions, working with our M&A team.   As our clients grow, we work with them on sensitive governance issues such as diversity and inclusion strategies, effective whistle-blowing practices, data protection compliance, modern slavery and executive remuneration.

But we're not just there for the good news stories.  We are experienced at handling high-profile and high-value litigation, from discrimination and whistle-blowing claims to protect your business against unlawful employee competition and data theft.  We take a holistic approach, working with our Business Crime, Regulatory and Reputation Management colleagues to ensure that the regulatory and reputational angles are taken care of.   We deal with employment litigation day in, day out, so we are experienced and effective tacticians, but we never lose sight of the big picture and what our clients are seeking to achieve.

We help steer our clients through tricky employee relations issues, such as trade union disputes, long term sickness absence and complex grievance and disciplinary matters.    And when the economic landscape changes, we help our clients adapt by steering them through restructures and redundancy processes.   We also regularly act for businesses in financial distress, or their purchasers or administrators, working with our clients to enable a fresh chapter to begin.

Because of our reputation for thoroughness and discretion, we are often called in to investigate allegations of serious misconduct, including #metoo allegations, handling both complainants and accused with sensitivity and objectivity.

Our work with employers is complemented by our work for senior executives, where we pride ourselves on getting the best possible outcomes for our clients, often in challenging and time-pressured situations.

We invest in our relationships with our clients, providing bespoke on-site training to managers and HR teams, providing our monthly Employment newsletter, WorkIt, and hosting a wide range of events where our clients can network, learn and share.
