Jane Amphlett specialises in all areas of employment law and partnership disputes. She is Head of our Employment and Immigration team.

Working closely with business leaders, including HR directors and senior executives, she provides commercial legal input into business critical issues. These include strategic, boardroom and partner appointments and terminations. 

She advises on discrimination prevention and litigation, as well as, investigations including into harassment allegations and complex grievance complaints. 

Jane regularly advises on team moves and other restrictive covenant and garden leave enforcement, confidentiality breaches, and data protection issues.  She helps businesses to facilitate local and international redundancy and restructuring. She advises many clients in the financial services and other regulated sectors and professional practices.

Jane is a member of the Employment Lawyers' Association Standing Committee on sexual harassment.

Recent work
  • Protecting a FTSE250 client's interests by enforcing its confidentiality and post-termination restrictions against departing employees, and their new employers, obtaining High Court injunctions where necessary.
  • Defending a luxury establishment in Employment Tribunal claims brought by  atypical workers/contractors and securing the early withdrawal of all claims.
  • Advising a property business on the attempted disruption of a business-critical team, development of valuable IP using the employer's resources, with alleged breaches of GDPR and an apparent conspiracy.  Undertakings were secured to protect and preserve the business' interests.
  • Successfully defending a private equity house against allegations of whistle-blowing detriments.
  • Advising on the set up of a new UK business for a global group, hiring and engaging employees, secondees and contractors and multiple service provision change TUPE transfers.
  • Advising a public company on a pan-European restructure with the closure of parts of its business, intra-group TUPE-transfers, some internationally, and collective redundancies.
  • Undertaking an audit/internal investigation of #metoo allegations for a regulated business and advising on the effective management, including the regulatory and reputational aspects.
  • Satisfactorily resolving inter-linked complex grievances and disciplinary matters for a business, involving allegations of religious, race and disability discrimination, bullying and theft of data.
  • Advising the executive team of an AIM-listed company on their employment terms shareholding and restrictions in connection with sale to an NYSE-listed company.
