Sam Murray-Hinde:


Sam specialises in all areas of employment law, with a strong emphasis on the transport and sport sectors. Sam is robust at helping clients deal with employee issues in a unionised environment - an area in which she has extensive experience.

Sam provides commercially-focused, industry-specific advice to employers, working with HR professionals and boards to minimise litigation. She advises on TUPE, industrial relations, and discrimination and whistleblowing law, to name but a few areas, also offering support in handling complex grievance and disciplinary matters.

In the sport sector, Sam is experienced in dealing with disciplinary and safeguarding matters and the drafting of bespoke policies and procedures.

Sam advises individuals on a wide range of employment matters, including employment status and IR35 reviews, exit strategies, settlement agreements, team moves and restrictive covenants.

She has particular expertise in tribunal and EAT proceedings, covering all areas of claim and has a great track record in achieving the best possible outcome for the client.

Sam is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the German-British Chamber of Commerce. Sam speaks German, having studied law and German law at university, as well as spending time working in German law firms.

  • Sitting as Chair on a disciplinary panel for an Olympic governing body
  • Assisting a coach facing disciplinary proceedings, to include successfully appealing an FA interim suspension order
  • Obtaining sizeable costs awards in two tribunal cases – one against a Claimant's solicitor, and another against a Claimant's non-qualified representative - for unreasonable conduct
  • Advising an Olympic governing body on an internal safeguarding investigation
  • Assisting a transport client in defending a tribunal claim for protected disclosures and sex discrimination in the midst of media interest due to the salacious nature of the allegations involved
  • Providing strategic advice to a transport client with a large workforce on the implications of the developing case law on holiday pay.
