Specialising in all areas of employment law, Sam is particularly well known for advising on discrimination and whistleblowing law, advising predominantly companies, but also individuals. She is well-versed in handling complex grievance and disciplinary matters involving complex allegations and is recognised by peers as an expert in litigation in the Employment Tribunal and appellate courts, being widely sought-after as a trainer and speaker in this area. Described as a commercially astute, detailed and eminently sensible litigator, Sam works with businesses, HR professionals, boards, and Insolvency Practitioners, advising on legal strategy to minimise litigation. 

Sam is adept at using the law creatively to achieve wider goals for clients including advice to Stella Creasy MP in connection with obtaining IPSA funding for maternity cover, a first for an MP.

Jane is Head of Employment at Howard Kennedy. She advises businesses and individuals, with a particular focus on regulated sectors, on a wide range of complex employment matters and disputes. She is well known for providing strategic and pragmatic advice and is acknowledged in Chambers UK 2021 as a recognised practitioner. Her focus is on discrimination, whistleblowing and harassment claims, Board appointments/restructures and contentious exits, strategic advice on team moves and defence of restrictive covenant, confidentiality and garden leave disputes.

Jane is recognised as a leading expert on discrimination law and provides advice and training on discrimination and harassment prevention strategies and claims. She speaks at Employment Lawyers Association events on discrimination and was invited to join ELA's Standing Committee on Sexual Harassment, responding to proposals for reform of the law around harassment and NDAs. She is frequently quoted in the press on employment and discrimination law issues.

Judith Lockhart leads the employment law practice at Carter Ledyard. She advises clients on all aspects of employment law and litigation. Her clients include companies and organizations of all sizes. She frequently provides advice relating to reorganizations, terminations, employment contracts, restrictive covenants and trade secrets. She also acts for clients in administrative proceedings and federal and state court actions involving claims of discrimination and wrongful termination. Judith frequently provides employment advice to international clients with subsidiary offices in New York. She also provides workplace behaviour training for organizations, particularly on the topic of sexual harassment prevention. Judith was honoured by the New York County Lawyers’ Association as an Outstanding Woman of the Bar. 

Kato Aerts is Counsel of our Employment, Pensions & Benefits practice. She advises clients on all aspects of both individual and collective labour law, and particularly focuses on international employment. She is often involved in setting-up or terminating salary split scenarios and international assignments and has advised large international companies in relation to major secondment projects to ensure compliance with local laws. Within the field of cross border employment Kato has significant experience and expertise in social security related matters and has published several articles in this respect. Kato has obtained a degree of mediation in social affairs at KU Leuven and often advises multinational corporations in highly sensitive #metoo related matters. She is the Vice President of the AIJA Labour and Immigration Law Commission and is a member of the Editorial Board of the UIA Juriste International.
