Did you know
Shreya Upreti is a Registered Foreign Lawyer (Nepal Qualified) with a keen interest in construction disputes.
Shreya has experience in commercial and international construction arbitrations in South Asia and Europe, and is currently involved in various matters involving the FIDIC suite of contracts.
Before moving to London, Shreya was a practising Advocate in Nepal. During this time, she advised international clients in matters related to construction arbitration (ICC & SIAC), commercial arbitration, mediation, contract drafting, foreign investment, and regularly liaised with government bodies. She also represented clients in civil litigation before the District and High Courts of Nepal. Additionally, she was involved in a legal reform project in relation to the securities market in Nepal.
Shreya holds a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law (B.A., LL.B.) Honors degree from National Law University, Delhi (India). She also has a Masters degree in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution (Merit) from Queen Mary University of London, with a specific focus on arbitration.
Shreya is fluent in English, Nepali and Hindi.
- Airport - South Asia: SIAC arbitration against the contractor on claims related to the termination of the contract in an amount excess of USD 100 million.
- Airport - South Asia: Arbitration against the employer pursuant to a contract regarding installation of a baggage handling system at the airport at the regional arbitration centre.
- Water Supply Project - South Asia: ICC Arbitration against the contractor pursuant to a USD 60 million contract to supply a capital city with 60% of its water.
- Hydropower Project - South Asia: Advised the contractor during appeal of two arbitral awards against the same employer at the regional court.
- Hotel - Mediterranean: Arbitration against the employer regarding multi-million Euro refurbishment of a five-star hotel at the regional arbitration centre.
- Road - The Balkans: ICC arbitration against the contractor regarding work on a multi-million Euro motorway project.
Shreya cooks a delicious (if a bit spicy) chicken curry, and enjoys writing poetry and short stories.
