Alexander Wood

Alexander Wood is a solicitor in the Corporate department, specialising in capital markets, which includes work with investment trusts, venture capital trusts, listing/listed trading companies, and early-stage fundraising. Alexander also has broader private company experience.

He assists VCTs and investment trusts with admission to the main market of the LSE and subsequent fundraising, in addition to advising on all ongoing requirements, both in his role as a lawyer and acting on behalf of Howard Kennedy Corporate Services, an FCA authorised sponsor.

He represents both NOMADs/brokers and the listing entities in AIM/AQSE transactions, and offers regulatory advice on a wide range of matters. Alex also assists the broader corporate department in M&A transactions, drawing on his experience in corporate takeovers and share structure alterations.

He loves working closely with founders of new companies and helping grow their businesses. His rich client base of venture capital investors places him in a unique position to assist with both introductions and the legal work of initial and subsequent fundraises. He also offers general corporate advice to start-up businesses including company structuring, facility agreement advice and shareholder agreements.

Alex is a keen sportsman in his personal life, having represented his county and university for a number of sports and having played semi-professional football. He therefore relishes working with sport-related clients, offering general legal commercial advice, as well as facilitating introductions.

Alex is proud to have been at Howard Kennedy for most of his career, starting as a paralegal in the Real Estate department, completing his training contract in 2021, and qualifying into the Corporate department. Prior to that, he gained experience working in-house for a large alcohol distribution company.
