It is important to note there is no automatic extension for filing – you
must take action before your filing deadline.

Companies House states that if, immediately before the filing deadline, it becomes clear that accounts will be late because the company is affected by the coronavirus, the company may make an application to extend the time period allowed for filing.

However, if an extension is not sought, an automatic penalty will be imposed. Appeals based on a coronavirus defence will be considered under existing Companies House policies dealing with unforeseen poor health.
