About

Stuart Duffy is a construction associate specialising in both contentious and non-contentious matters. He advises developers, contractors and sub-contractors on a range of construction matters and is experienced in litigation, international arbitration and adjudication proceedings.

He also drafts bespoke contracts and produces amendments to standard forms of building and engineering contracts.

Stuart thrives on gaining successful outcomes for his clients.  

Prior to joining Howard Kennedy, he worked for the leading UK main contractor, Mace, which included a position based at the site office of the BBC Television Centre redevelopment in White City. 

Recent work
  • Acting for a developer in an adjudication relating to the wrongful termination of a JCT contract.
  • Assisting with the issue of protective proceedings in the TCC.
  • Assisting a sub-contractor client on its prospects of a smash and grab adjudication. 
  • Assisting the team during an ICC international arbitration relating to a major rail project in the Middle East. Dispute valued at several hundreds of millions of US dollars.
  • Assisting the team throughout the construction of a mixed-use development in Nine Elms. 
  • Drafting a set of standard sub-contractor terms for a client who supplies and installs security systems.

Stuart plays football for his local team in the Southern Amateur Football League and is a keen golfer, with a handicap of 16.
