Patrick is an experienced banking and finance lawyer and advises on a broad range of high value and complex debt finance transactions. He focuses on corporate finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, asset-based lending, receivables finance, debt restructuring and corporate reorganisations.
Patrick has acted for a wide range of clients including the main UK clearing banks, investment banks, international banks, specialist lenders, institutional investors, asset-based lenders, and corporate borrowers.
His sector experience includes general corporate M&A, natural resources, charities/social enterprise, sporting organisations, social housing, education, development finance, and trade finance.
Patrick's considerable deal experience, commercial aptitude and versatility ensure clients receive effective practical solutions.
- Advised an AIM-quoted SigmaRoc plc in connection with various funding rounds with Santander (UK) plc and most recently its £305 million syndicated debt facility in connection with its acquisition of the Finnish limestone producer Nordkalk Oy AB for c.€470 million.
- Advised an English subsidiary of an international tech group in connection with its US$1,025,000,000 facilities.
- Advised Metro Bank plc on various transactions including a £20m funding of a West End fine art gallery/dealer, £15m funding (and several restatements) of a West End restaurant and fine wine distributor, £10m to a national restaurant chain, £3.5m to a self-storage business, £7 funding as part of a £34m acquisition of an advertising business.
- Advised the Charity Bank Limited in numerous club deals with club partners such as The Co-operative Bank, Unity Trust Bank and Big Society Capital Limited in connection with various lending projects to housing associations, charitable organisations and care homes, both refinancing and development finance.
- Advised Unity Trust Bank on funding transactions to care homes and registered social housing providers.
- Advised Reliance Bank on £10m funding to a registered housing provider and various smaller loans to various entities including developers and charities.
- Advised The Cooperative Bank on various matters including four separate UK hotel acquisitions.
- Advised a national football club on working capital facilities with various funders.
- Advised an international sporting body on various funding and refinancing projects in excess of £80m.
Patrick's first career was the Merchant Navy training to be a Master Mariner on oil tankers, bulk carriers and container ships.
