About

Victoria Tyson is an award-winning contentious construction lawyer with over 25 years’ experience in complex international construction and engineering disputes. She has particular expertise in the FIDIC forms of construction contract and international arbitration.

She has been involved in a number of important FIDIC cases including Obrascon Huarte Lain SA v Her Majesty’s Attorney General for Gibraltar [2014] EWHC 1028 (TCC) and [2015] EWCA Civ 712.

Named as a 'Leading Partner' in the Legal 500 UK Guide 2025 (Construction: Contentious), and 'Up and Coming' in the Chambers and Partners UK Guide 2024 and 2025 (Construction: International Arbitration).

Victoria is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and is in the Executive Group of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) UK.

She is co-author of 'FIDIC 2017: A Practical Legal Guide'.

  • Building - Europe: Dispute board proceedings against the employer concerning a Euro 200 million contract. (FIDIC Red Book 1999)
  • Water Supply Project - South Asia: SIAC arbitration against the contractor pursuant to a USD 60 million contract to supply a capital city with 60% of its water. (FIDIC Pink Book 2010)
  • Airport - South Asia: SIAC arbitration against the contractor concerning the termination of a USD 60 million contract. (FIDIC Pink Book 2010)
  • Port - Middle East: Dispute board proceedings against the contractor in relation to defects under a USD 100 million contract. (FIDIC Pink Book 2010)
  • Hydropower Project - Africa: Dispute board proceedings against the contractor on a circa €1 billion delay and disruption claim arising out of a €3.5 billion contract. (FIDIC Silver Book 1999) 
  • Hotel - Mediterranean Europe: Advising the employer in relation to defects on a €140 million mixed-use development. (FIDIC Yellow Book 1999)
