Toheeb is an experienced Nigerian qualified dispute resolution lawyer primarily engaged in international commercial arbitration, litigation and Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) proceedings.

Toheeb is a skilled Nigerian qualified dispute resolution lawyer with extensive experience in international arbitration, commercial litigation and Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) proceedings. He dedicates time to incorporate the clients goals and expectations in their representation while ensuring a commercially favourable outcome.

Toheeb regularly advises and represents clients in disputes arising from commercial contracts, employment, construction, oil and gas, technology, insurance, joint venture and partnership disputes, media, property, civil claims, banker-customer relationships, amongst others.

He has been involved in a broad range of commercial and investment arbitrations under the ICSID, LCIA, ICC, DIAC, AAA/ICDR, RCICAL and UNCITRAL rules and a wide array of ad hoc arbitrations. He has acted as tribunal secretary in various high profile ad-hoc arbitrations and LCIA arbitration.

Being a qualified barrister and solicitor in Nigeria, Toheeb has considerable experience in litigation in all the superior courts in Nigeria and has particular experience in African law. Toheeb holds a certificate from the World Bank Group in Unlocking Investment and Finance in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies (EMDEs).

Recent work
  • Advised a seismic data servicing company in respect of its cost recovery to the tune of $25m from an oil major and the Nigerian state oil entity for providing 3D seismic data acquisition services under a Technical Collaboration Agreement and a Joint Operating Agreement.
  • Advised a large fintech company in Brazil on the requirements for operating a finance company in Nigeria and offer credit products.
  • Acted for the Claimant, an offshore contract drilling and liftboat services provider in the enforcement of an Arbitral Award in the sum of $4.6m arising from a Joint Biding Agreement in Nigeria.
  • Acted as the Tribunal Secretary in an Ad-Hoc Arbitration between an engineering and building maintenance company and a construction company with a dispute value of over $2.2m.
  • Acted as the Tribunal Secretary in an LCIA Arbitration in respect of a Shareholders Agreement between an insurance company and the minority shareholders with a dispute value of  $720,465.15 involving Tanzanian parties.
