Did you know
Matthew Davies is an Associate in the Real Estate Dispute Resolution team. He advises on a broad range of contentious real estate matters across both commercial and residential property.
For commercial property stakeholders, Matthew advises on business lease renewals, break notices, forfeiture and breaches of covenant. His residential property practice encompasses possession proceedings, service charge disputes, trespass matters, and right to manage claims.
As a member of our Building Safety Group, Matthew regularly advises on building safety matters, including compliance with the certificate regime, the obligations of accountable persons, and resolving disputes relating to structural and fire safety defects.
Matthew is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome for his clients, whether through negotiated settlement or, where necessary, litigation. He has acted in civil proceedings in the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.
- Advising one of the largest developers in the United Kingdom as to its obligations arising under the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Acting in proceedings for the recovery of c. £4.1m for costs to remediate fire safety defects in a high-rise residential development.
- Acting for a developer to secure a site clearance of a large multi-occupied site prior to redevelopment works of an estimated value of c. £300m.
Matthew regularly plays 11-a-side Sunday-league football and tennis.
