Laura is a STEP qualified solicitor advising on private client matters including administration of estates, as well as will and lasting power of attorney preparation.
Laura manages and guides executors through all aspects of estate administration. As part of this, she also advises on mitigating inheritance tax through the use of deeds of variation, loss on sale relief and charitable exemptions.
Laura drafts wills for a variety of clients, particularly those with complex family arrangements who have a need to balance competing interests. As part of this she will look at her clients' objectives and how this might impact on their UK inheritance tax liability.
Laura also advises on the preparation of lasting powers of attorney and mental capacity issues.
She believes in developing long-lasting professional relationships with her clients and is keen to be seen as their trusted advisor. She has an eye for detail and will always go the extra mile to achieve her clients' aims.
Laura is a full member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners and is an Associate member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
- Advising a client about the preparation of her will, incorporating a complex trust to provide for the husband of her second marriage, whilst also protecting the interests of her children from her first marriage.
- Advising executors about the double taxation reliefs available in the administration of an estate with assets in the UK and Spain.
- Advising the administrator of a complex intestacy with assets in the UK and Jordan, where a previously unknown beneficiary was identified partway through the administration.
- Advising on an application for a Grant Ad Colligenda Bona where sale of property was agreed shortly before the testator's death and a Grant of Probate was required urgently to complete on the deal.
Laura's principal interests are sewing and she even makes some of her own clothes. She is also an avid gym goer.
