About

Julia Wookey is a senior associate in the dispute resolution team, specialising in civil fraud and commercial dispute resolution. Her commercial litigation experience includes breach of contract and insurance claims, including disputes relating to: sponsorship agreements, art authenticity, tax, funding and agents.

She has represented clients in matters involving data theft, misappropriation of confidential information, breach of restrictive covenants, breach of trust, vicarious liability, misrepresentation and conspiracy. Her clients include private individuals, corporates, trustees, governing bodies and government owned organisations; her work often has an international element. 

Julia regularly advises in-house counsel, offering pragmatic, strategic and often urgent advice in order to prevent issues from escalating and mitigating exposure to risk. 

She is passionate about alternative dispute resolution and has particular expertise and experience in mediations. She is holistic in her approach to strategy and sensitive to her clients' reputational concerns. 

Julia is a founding member of the firm's pro bono committee and she co-manages the firm's award winning pro bono programme.

  • Acting for a charity to successfully recover funds which had been fraudulently misappropriated by a charity trustee.
  • Acting for an ex director accused of fraud, professional misconduct and tortious conspiracy in respect of mining operations across the African continent; with the parties being based in Hong Kong.
  • Advising a model agency in respect of a claim for fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract.
  • Acting for an entrepreneur to successfully defend injunctive proceedings.
  • Defending an entrepreneur in respect of allegations of data theft and advising on an computer imaging order.
  • Acting for an art dealer in respect of an authenticity dispute.
  • Advising a reggae artist in a claim against a record label.
  • Advising a professional services client in respect of an application for permission for judicial review to challenge a decision by their regulatory body.
