Jack O'Shea:

Trainee Solicitor

Jack O'Shea is a first year trainee solicitor currently sitting in the Commercial Development team, within the Real Estate Department. Jack's first seat was in the Real Estate Dispute Resolution Team. 

Jack graduated from Cornell University, College of Arts & Sciences, majoring in History with a minor in English.  He then completed the GDL and LPC at the University of Law, Moorgate.  He interned at a law firm in New York City for ten weeks, and completed two vacation schemes during his GDL.

Jack has gained experience in a wide variety of commercial transactions, both national and international, giving him insight into how to add value and assist clients throughout the progression of a matter.

During his Undergraduate Degree, Jack worked closely with a number of start-ups in the Strategic Consulting Club on a Pro Bono basis, providing advice on how to expand their businesses. This informed his decision to pursue a career where he could help businesses achieve their goals.

Recent work

  • drafted and issued several claims, relating to 1954 Act Business Lease renewals. 
  • drafted and presented bankruptcy and winding up petitions and attended the subsequent hearings, liaising with Counsel throughout the process. 
  • drafted statutory demands for arrears of rent, as well as drafting and issuing particulars of claim in relation to service charge arrears. 
  • conducted research on niche areas of law, such as "keep trading clauses" and provided detailed advice to the client. 
  • conducted research into the how to enforce UK judgments in foreign jurisdictions, again providing advice to the client with a range of options. 

Random fact

Jack used to be a nationally ranked tennis player, and coached tennis at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
