A real estate disputes lawyer with a broad range of experience, Ed John is an expert in dealing with legal issues in the hotel and hospitality industry. He heads the Germany team and is fluent in German.

Ed's work encompasses a broad range of advice on prevention and resolution of real estate disputes, as well as, tactical advice on clients' real estate strategies. 

Ed regularly acts for landlords, tenants, funders, developers, and investors, as well as insolvency practitioners on a wide spectrum of commercial real estate matters. He qualified as a solicitor-advocate in 2014 and has rights of audience in all civil proceedings. Ed has extensive experience in resolving matters early and economically using alternative dispute resolution.

He has recognised expertise in the hospitality and leisure sector, where he has acted for or against almost every global hospitality brand. He also advises on the real estate components of office, co-living, mixed-use, retail, data-centre, and business continuity matters.

Ed regularly speaks at events, chairs panels, and publishes thought-leadership pieces.

He regularly acts for German and German-speaking clients.

Acting for a UK clearing bank on the re-gearing of its Canary Wharf campus and resolution of the connected multi-million pound dilapidations and service charge dispute.

Representing a sovereign wealth fund in the acquisition by sale-and-manage-back of a landmark London hotel for £400m.
