About

Alexandra Giles is an associate specialising in domestic and international trust and estates disputes. She also advises on disputes involving vulnerable people in the Court of Protection.

Alexandra Giles advises individuals, beneficiaries and trustees, as both claimants and defendants, in a full range of trusts and estates disputes.  

Her practice encompasses acting in claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, challenges to the validity of wills, promissory estoppel claims, breach of trust claims and the removal of executors and trustees. 

Alexandra also advises on disputed Court of Protection applications, including the appointment and removal of deputies or attorneys, management disputes, and statutory will applications. 

She understands the emotional difficulty clients can face dealing with private wealth disputes. She is compassionate, whilst providing an analytical and pragmatic focus to resolving her clients' disputes. 

Alexandra is undertaking the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) course. She is also a member of ConTrA, the Contentious Trusts Association.

Recent work

  • Acting for adult children in a will validity dispute relating to their father's multi-million pound estate where the father's testamentary capacity was in question. 
  • Acting on behalf of beneficiaries to successfully remove executors who had been delaying administration of the parent's estate for over six years.
  • Advising a personal representative in a settlement with neighbours of the deceased who claimed adverse possession in relation to the estate property to avoid the estate becoming insolvent. 
  • Acting for an adult child in a dispute over parent's capacity to make a will, capacity to manage their high-value property and affairs both domestically and internationally, capacity to marry, and the subsequent appointment of a Deputy and execution of a statutory will.
