VIEW ALLOver the past six weeks, Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) has issued death threats targeting 45 journalists from Iran International and more than 315 of their family members across eight countries: Belgium, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The experts describe this as an unprecedented breach of international norms and a direct threat to press freedom and personal safety.
The statement was issued by experts from seven UN Special Procedures mandates, covering areas including freedom of expression, protection from torture, and discrimination against women and girls.

Iran International calls for support of the UN’s calls for urgent international attention and action to protect journalists and uphold human rights.
Mark Stephens CBE, solicitor to Iran International, said:
“Iran’s relentless terroristic threats against journalists and their families are the most direct attack on truth. The world cannot watch in silence while a rogue regime tries to crush honest reporting with intimidation. With the UN shining a light on this abuse, and with the courage of the journalists being attacked, truth is now set to triumph over fear."
