The cross-sector mediation awards take place biannually to celebrate excellence amongst those involved in commercial, civil, family and community mediation. The Mediation Advocate Award recognises those who regularly act as an advocate on behalf of parties to a mediation. The expert panel of judges were looking for someone who receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from clients as well as praise for their mediation advocacy skills from their opponents and mediators. A commitment to equal opportunity, inclusion and diversity was also essential, as was actively promoting mediation as an effective tool of dispute resolution.
With two decades of experience resolving commercial disputes across various sectors in the UK and internationally, her commitment to promoting mediation as an effective dispute resolution tool is evident through her work at Howard Kennedy, leading the LSLA and as a trustee and volunteer with London based charity, Calm Mediation. Nikki’s involvement in the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition and the International Mediation Roundtable over the last seven years also demonstrates her dedication to advancing mediation practices globally and with the next generation.
The judging panel commented "As a mediation advocate Nikki's work has been outstanding. She has helped to shape civil justice reform and promote best practice. She is a mediation advocate in all sense of the word and is thoroughly deserving of this award."
Commenting on her award win, Nikki said: “I am thrilled to have been recognised by my peers in this category. I have been representing parties at commercial mediations for almost 20 years now, and whilst I have also been taking appointments as a mediator for the last eight years, it feels especially nice to be recognised for my work as a lawyer in the role of mediation advocate. I firmly believe that practicing as a mediator makes me a better lawyer and vice versa. This award is testament to that.”
