Howard Kennedy welcomes Jonathan Huth as Partner

"A long road through a forest.

Howard Kennedy is pleased to welcome Jonathan Huth, who has joined the Business Crime practice as Partner. This key hire will enhance the Firm's leading Business Crime team, which has achieved widespread acclaim for their market leading work in the space.

Jonathan is an accomplished trial lawyer whose experience includes cross-border investigations, disputes, judgment enforcement, asset recovery, and regulatory enforcement matters for clients based in the UK, Europe, US and Africa. Jonathan’s experience consists of government, in-house and corporate counsel roles, handling matters involving securities and financial fraud market manipulation, including foreign exchange, benchmark and Libor manipulation, and financial crimes.

His addition to Howard Kennedy will boost its cross-discipline Investigations practice, while further expanding the firm’s international reach.

Jonathan joins Howard Kennedy from Kobre & Kim where he was an Investigations Partner since 2018. Jonathan’s exposure to banking and financial regulation is of especial strategic value to Howard Kennedy as it looks to grow its reach in this sector. Prior to Kobre & Kim, Jonathan was Associate General Counsel at HSBC Bank in London, conducting cross-border investigations and serving as defence counsel in matters including allegations of financial crime. Jonathan also spent over six years as Senior Trial Attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the CFTC. Jonathan began his career in the fraud division at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Commenting on his appointment, Ian Ryan, Partner in Howard Kennedy’s Business Crime practice, said: “Jonathan’s vast breadth of experience working for regulators, as an in-house counsel and as a trial lawyer will significantly bolster our team. His exposure to international clients will also enable us to further expand our reach across Africa and other jurisdictions. I look forward to working with Jonathan and I am confident that his excellent track-record will help us expand our practice in new directions.”

Jonathan Huth added: “I am delighted to join Howard Kennedy's excellent Business Crime team and I look forward to help growing the practice. Recently we have seen a step-up in regulation from ESG data and ratings to crypto as matters of trust, integrity and regulatory oversight increasingly come to the fore. Having sat on both the client and law firm side, I hope that I can help Howard Kennedy’s clients navigate the complex issues impacting markets by being attuned to both perspectives.”
