VIEW ALLLondon law firm, Howard Kennedy, is pleased to welcome James Meakin. James joins the firm as Partner and Head of Tax, effective 7 March 2022.
James focuses on the tax aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including M&A, group reorganisations, venture capital, joint ventures and private equity, from both a domestic and cross-border perspective.
James has advised private companies and their shareholders on tax issues arising on acquisitions and disposals as well as on demergers and reorganisations in addition to providing tax planning advice. His real estate tax practice includes advising companies, shareholders and funds on the tax issues relevant to structuring, financing or developing land. He also advises on the real estate transactional tax issues which can arise, including VAT and SDLT.
James joins from the Corporate Tax group at Dentons, where as a partner in the London office, he advised numerous public and private companies across a range of sectors including real estate, entertainment, finance, funds and insurance. James‘s recent work includes advising a leading music business on domestic and cross-border transactions and offering real estate tax advice to investors and developers.
