Howard Kennedy strengthens rankings in Chambers UK 2025

Howard Kennedy is proud to announce its outstanding performance in the Chambers UK 2025 guide, reflecting the firm's continued growth across various practice areas and the exceptional service provided to its clients.

This year, the firm saw 13 practice areas ranked, including (including two new rankings and one firmwide promotion) and 32 individual ranked lawyers (including four new rankings), highlighting the depth and strength of our team.

The firm has been ranked in two new categories, underscoring the firm's expertise and increasing influence. The Construction Contentious team are recognised as being 'highly experienced in complex construction claims' and the Fraud: Civil team are noted as being 'a great team and are very ambitious' who are 'thoughtful in their approach and diligent."

In addition to firm accolades, several of our lawyers received individual recognition for their exceptional work for the first time:

  • Gillian White – Corporate/M&A: £10m - £100m (London Firms), Band 4
  • Jade Chalmers – Planning (London Firms), Band 6

The firm also saw significant promotions this year, further demonstrating our expanding capabilities.  The Media team were recognised both as a team and individually.  The team were promoted in Media & Entertainment: Publishing (UK-wide) to Band 3 and Mark Stephens, 'one of the media greats' was also promoted to Band 2 in the Defamation/Reputation Management area. 

Promotions were also awarded to Jane Amphlett in Employment: Employer (London Firms) and Duncan Bagshaw – International Arbitration (UK-wide) reflecting their ongoing contributions to their practice areas.

Our consistent excellence has been reaffirmed by maintaining rankings across a variety of practice areas.

The Real Estate team maintained its Band 1 recognition in the £10-50 million category, as well as being recognised in Real Estates Disputes where the partners are 'excellent and succinct' and the team is an ' impressive outfit with very strong lawyers'.  Additionally, several individuals in Construction Contentious (Jeffrey Brown, Mark Pritchard, Jonathan Pawlowski) and Construction Non-Contentious (James Stewart) were recognised. As well as Jade's individual recognition in Planning.

Edward Corbett maintained his Band 1 ranking in Construction: International Arbitration as did Mark Stephens CBE in the International Human Rights Law category.

The Corporate team maintained its Band 3 ranking in the Corporate/M&A (£10m - £100m) category. The team are praised for, ' " the perfect balance of expert and commercial advice while being highly responsive and easy to deal with'. As well as Gillian's recognition, Ashley Reebeck maintained his Band 4 ranking in the same category. 

The Business Crime team who are ' are brilliant in financial crime and private prosecutions' has had an impressive range of rankings with Kyle Phillips in Band 2 and Jennifer Harper recognised as an Associate to Watch in Financial Crime: Private Prosecutions.  Ian Ryan maintained his Band 2 position in the same category, alongside a top tier ranking for Financial Crime: Individuals and a Band 2 ranking in Professional Discipline. And in the Financial Crime: Corporates category, both Kyle and Jennifer maintained their Band 5 and Associate to Watch rankings respectively.
