VIEW ALLHoward Kennedy has been awarded new accolades in the Chambers UK 2024 guide in recognition of the firm's continued growth across several practice areas and outstanding service provided to clients.
The firm has been ranked in 11 categories, five of which are new rankings. These include Band 2 in Financial Crime: Private Prosecutions and a Band 3 ranking in Construction: International Arbitration following the firm's merger with Corbett & Co earlier this year. In recognition of our stellar Real Estate practice and team, Howard Kennedy maintained its top-tier ranking in Real Estate: £10-50m with sources noting "There is excellent knowledge throughout the team, driven by strong leadership."
Howard Kennedy also received 28 lawyer rankings, including nine new positions. The deeper breadth of our expertise in Construction has been recognised with several new individual rankings, including a Band 1 recognition for Edward Corbett. Victoria Tyson is a new ranked lawyer in Construction: International Arbitration, while Jonathan Pawlowski was included in the Construction Contentious section. Clients were impressed by the team's ability to "provide very sophisticated legal advice, but more importantly practical advice on how to deal with problems that emerge during a construction project." Head of Construction James Stewart maintained his ranking for Construction: Non-Contentious whilst Jeffrey Brown and Mark Pritchard maintained their rankings in the Construction: Contentious category.
The Business Crime team has also gained new individual rankings with the addition of Kyle Phillips to Band 2 and Jennifer Harper to Associate to Watch in Financial Crime: Private Prosecutions. One source highlighted, "The lawyers in the team demonstrated a pragmatic approach to the investigative work that we carried out and were able to grasp complex accounting issues. They had a good grasp of both civil and criminal tools to obtain information." Ian Ryan maintained his Band 2 position in the same category, alongside a top-tier ranking for Financial Crime: Individuals and a Band 2 ranking in Professional Discipline. Kyle Philips was promoted to Band 5 in the Financial Crime: Corporates category, where Jennifer Harper was also recognised as an Associate to Watch for the first time.
Our Corporate team led by Gillian White, held their Corporate/M&A: £10-£100m ranking with sources noting "The Howard Kennedy group has good understanding of complex matters and access to necessary specialists as required."
The Media & Entertainment team celebrated several wins, including Mark Stephens' promotion to Band 1 in International Human Rights Law. He also maintained his other rankings in Defamation / Reputation Management and Media & Entertainment: Publishing. Elizabeth Morley was ranked for the first time in Defamation / Reputation Management, where the team were also recognised with a firm category. One client descried the team as client as "good listeners who provide practical and actionable advice. Turnaround times are very quick, and timing expectations are properly managed."
The firm was awarded a department ranking in the Employment: Employer category, following the addition of Sam Murray-Hinde as a new ranked lawyer and Lydia Christie's promotion. Head of Employment and Immigration Jane Amphlett maintained her ranking in the same section, as well as in Employment: Senior Executive, with clients quoting that "They are meticulous in their approach and offer specific advice based on their past experiences which is in line with the law. They have a good depth of expertise across their practice."
In good news for the Family department, Head of the team Lois Langton maintained her Family / Matrimonial: UHNW with a source stating "Lois is very tactical and absolutely brilliant with clients. She has a calming influence, always pragmatic and never dramatic. She inspires utter confidence, as she is incredibly knowledgeable and is always on hand to deliver advice promptly."
