Howard Kennedy has been named Insolvency Law Firm of the Year (Up to Three Insolvency Partners) at the Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards 2023.

This is the fifth time the firm has been shortlisted for the award, and the fourth time it has won, after winning in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

This year's TRI Awards gave the industry the opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced, and the support businesses have offered to clients, during a year that has been characterised by market turmoil.

To impress the judges, the team had to show:

  • the provision of consistent, excellent legal and advisory insolvency services for clients
  • the provision of innovative solutions and excellent legal and advisory services to clients
  • contributions to the legal corporate insolvency and restructuring profession through education and guidance.

The submission highlighted the complex matters the team has been involved with over the last year, including advising a political consulting firm in a high-profile insolvency case, and acting for the liquidators of a conglomerate in the renewable energy sector in a multi-million-pound claim. The team also continue to provide education and guidance to the insolvency profession through their thought leadership content, particularly on the importance of ESG to business strategy and survival and the resulting impact on directors' duties.

Vernon Dennis, Partner and Head of Restructuring and Insolvency, commented: "I'm thrilled that the team's hard work and expertise has been recognised at the TRI Awards for the fourth consecutive year. This award is a true reflection of the team's dedication to providing clients with outstanding legal services as well as our contribution to the profession through content and thought leadership".
