As the world is experiencing some major changes to how we do business, radical changes are happening in the court room. Using a range of video conferencing platforms, Courts are holding numerous "virtual" hearings.
On Wednesday 20 May we hosted a webinar where we shared the experiences our lawyers have had with Virtual Court Hearings. From sharing some tips for lawyers planning video-based hearings and trials, to the perspective of both the advising attorney and the trial advocate. This content is useful for all litigators everywhere helping prepare for similar virtual hearings in the future.
We were joined by Howard Kennedy Partners Mark Stephens, CBE and Duncan Bagshaw, who have planned and managed some of the first fully virtual hearings.
Mark practices before every level of court in England and Wales and also abroad before international tribunals and courts. He is a qualified mediator.
Duncan has acted in arbitration hearings around the world and recently acted in the famous case of Halliburton v Chubb, in the UK Supreme Court. Duncan has undertaken several court hearings by videolink since the restrictions were imposed (as advocate and as solicitor), and a mediation.
