Paris is the destination for the 2023 International Bar Association (IBA) annual conference which takes place between 29 October and 3 November. Thousands of lawyers from over 130 jurisdictions and all parts of the legal profession will be in attendance, including lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, human rights advocates, judges, bar leaders, regulators and government representatives.
The Howard Kennedy team will be present throughout. Members of the team are actively involved in committee work, including the Family and Media Law Committees as well as the IBA Human Rights Institute and will be involved throughout the week in what promises to be a very busy programme.
Mark Stephens is one of the speakers in the IBA's Human Rights Institute session titled: "A SLAPP in the face: human rights or the end of defamation?" and is chairing a later session titled: "SLAPPed: the role of lawyers in contributing to the global threat to human rights of freedom of expression and access to information". Both events take place on Thursday 2 November. Jessie Smith is one of the speakers at the Family Law Committee session titled "Here’s hoping and hopping: around the prenup world in 80 minutes" on Monday 30 October.
