The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to look back on the old, and for the Howard Kennedy Private Wealth NextGen network, it was a fantastic year!
The group was set up with the aim of helping the next generation of professionals, working in the Private Wealth sphere to build up their networks. The group is a way for them to build their network of connections without reliance on introductions from more senior members and partners in their organisations. Since the group started many new relationships and connections have been formed.
Our launch party on 11 April 2019 launched the network with a bang. We took over Barts, Speakeasy for the evening, and everyone enjoyed an evening of cocktails and conversations. We had over 80 attendees, so it was not a terrible way to get to know everybody…
The second event was our in-house quiz in July, which saw some familiar faces and welcomed new ones to a pub quiz in our offices overlooking the Thames. While everyone started off admiring the view, soon everyone settled down to seriously quizzing. In what was either an outstanding case of nominative determinism or just dumb luck, the winning team was … The Winning Team, and the members were treated to a fine dining experience at Howard Kennedy.
Our final event of 2019 was something a little more cerebral. We hosted a breakfast seminar setting out a scenario which allowed our speakers, Nick Mendoza, Senior Associate in the Private Client team here, Oliver Marre a barrister at 5 Stone Buildings, and Antonia Torr, Head of the Immigration department at Howard Kennedy to discuss a scenario that may have seemed far-fetched at first but becoming increasingly recognisable in its complexity. We could make some puns about food for thought at a breakfast seminar, but that could be too much for January.
We are planning our next event which will be held in March, and we'll be sending out the details in February. We're looking forward to seeing all our regular attendees and welcoming new colleagues to our first event of 2020.
