What did you do prior to joining Howard Kennedy LLP as a trainee?

Prior to joining Howard Kennedy I worked as a paralegal at Berwin Leighton Paisner and Weil, Gotshal & Manges. I worked in the Commercial and Corporate Real Estate departments, working on real estate transactions including sales and purchases, corporate acquisitions and disposals, leasing and property financing.

What has been your best moment or your biggest challenge during your training contract so far?

At the time of writing this, I have only been with Howard Kennedy for two months but I would say my best moment has been attending the Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW) - Junior Lawyers Network meeting hosted by our firm.

It was a great networking opportunity and was interesting to meet peers working all across the world and finding out about the work they are involved with in different jurisdictions.

What are your personal interests?

I am a big Liverpool fan and try to go up to Liverpool to watch them whenever I get a chance. Apart from football, I am also a big NBA fan and I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.

What is your top tip to candidates looking to apply for a training contract at Howard Kennedy LLP?

Be yourself and not who you think the assessors want you to be! I think this is a trap many candidates can easily fall into, but it is essential that candidates are able to be themselves and show those assessing them the personal qualities which could make them stand out against the rest.

I would also strongly recommend that candidates use every platform (including the firm's website and twitter page) to find out all of the information they can. It is crucial to know the firm you are applying to and doing this will definitely put you in good stead during the application process.
