I worked as a Litigation Executive at Fentons Solicitors when I first moved to London. I worked with and managed several sources in relation to road traffic accident work and credit hire claims. I processed matters on the RTA Claims Portal and more often than not would have to commence proceedings when the matter could no longer be dealt with on the Portal.
In 2011 began my journey at Howard Kennedy, working as a Paralegal in the Residential Development Team, where I dealt with large scale residential developments from initial instruction stage through to completion. I attended international exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as well as several UK exhibitions for the sale of individual plots, for property developers Ballymore Properties Limited.
My biggest challenge so far has been working on a refinance of a commercial property in the first few weeks of my training contract – quite daunting as this was fairly different from any work I had done before.
I'm an exercise enthusiast and have found a way to combine this with helping out in my local community. I am a member of an organisation called Good Gym. They combine keeping fit with carrying out manual labour for different community organisations. They also aim to pair a runner up with an isolated older person who is called your 'coach'. They motivate you to go for a run, and you run to them to keep them company once a week.
Persevere - if you feel that Howard Kennedy is the right firm for you and you may have been unsuccessful, don't be afraid to try again. That one year's experience could be all the difference they were looking for.
