Why did you choose Howard Kennedy for your training contract?

I chose Howard Kennedy for my training contract due to the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of practice areas and to work with both corporate and individual clients. The culture and core values of the firm also resonated with me, in particular the emphasis on being yourself. I strongly believe that finding alignment with a firm's values is crucial for your success and growth. 

What are you most looking forward to?

Alongside working with extremely talented colleagues on interesting matters, I am looking forward to getting involved with the Trainee Editorial Board and various networks, such as the Empower Network.

Why did you choose Howard Kennedy for your training contract?

Having worked at Howard Kennedy as a paralegal before starting my training contract, I had first-hand insight into how supportive the firm is of its trainees. I saw a positive and open culture where people at all levels are generous with their time and keen to help you develop. The firm also offers a wide range of seat options, which appealed to me as it provides the opportunity to explore different areas of law before deciding where to qualify. Being encouraged to pursue my own interests and stay true to myself made Howard Kennedy the right place for me to train. 

What are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to building my experience across different departments and getting involved in a wide range of interesting work. Alongside this, I am excited to continue my involvement in firm initiatives, particularly through the Empower Network, where I have helped organise the International Women's Day and International Men's Day events, as well as through my role on the Charity Committee.

I chose Howard Kennedy for my training contract because when researching the firm, I heard about the value of "Be yourself" and the supportive culture. As a trainee, I can confirm that this is true - everyone is very approachable and values you as an individual. I also appreciate the wide variety of departments in which you can do a seat and get involved in high-quality work, which is a great way to gain experience and learn about many areas of law. 

What non-fee-earning activities are you looking forward to getting involved in at Howard Kennedy?

I'm excited to get involved in pro-bono work, the Empower network, and volunteering!

 Why did you choose Howard Kennedy for your training contract?

Having been a paralegal at the firm before becoming trainee, it really was the culture of the firm that made me want to stay. From paralegal to partner, everyone in the team is incredibly supportive and genuinely wants to help you to succeed. This isn't contained to your own team, with a true sense of collaboration and support felt across the firm. The culture is something I knew I couldn't live without! 

What are you most looking forward to?

Alongside experiencing a variety of new areas of law, I am looking forward to getting involved in some of the committees and networks championing causes across the firm. I have recently joined the Environmental Committee and the Empower Network for gender equality. Not only does it feel great to be involved in a cause you care about, it is a great chance to get to know others from across the firm, lawyers and non-lawyers alike.

Howard Kennedy’s emphasis on authenticity and direct communication resonated with me from the start of the application process. Joining the firm has surpassed these expectations. This culture has empowered me to develop meaningful professional relationships and truly get to know my colleagues as individuals, not just as co-workers.
