About

Jonathan Sellors is a specialist in intellectual property, data protection and commercial contracts. He has extensive expertise in media and entertainment, art and cultural property and medical research industries.

Jonathan works for a wide range of organisations, from well-known international companies to UK based charities to a number of individuals.

On the IP side of his practice, Jonathan acts for clients on trade mark and design infringement, patent protection and global licensing, and proprietary rights matters. While on the data protection side, he advises clients on access to research data, use of genetic data, and open source arrangements.

He is a senior fellow at the Nuffield Department of Public Health at the University of Oxford and a visiting professor at the Big Data Institute.

He has been a member of the EU working group on GDPR, a co-author of the Academy of Medical Sciences Report on data driven technology in health care and he is also a board member of the European Society of Cardiology. He additionally writes a number of research papers.

Jonathan was also made MBE for services to medical research, including a decade as legal counsel to UK Biobank, the largest medical research resource in the world.
