Daniel Barrett is a solicitor in the real estate dispute resolution team. He advises on a broad range of contentious issues relating to property, with a particular focus on disputed lease renewals.

Daniel's practice area encompasses a number of contentious issues relating to both commercial and residential property. He prides himself on his ability to translate often complex statutory requirements into simple, manageable processes for clients to navigate.

Daniel has a particular interest in leasehold enfranchisement, and regularly acts for both landlords and tenants in complex collective enfranchisements and lease extensions.

He also regularly acts for commercial landlords and tenants in connection with disputed business lease renewals, rent arrears, and forfeiture.

Daniel is a member of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP).

  • Acting for landlords and tenants in opposed business lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
  • Acting for landlords and tenants in residential lease extensions under the Leasehold Reform, Urban Housing and Development Act 1993 where issues of significant value are in dispute.
  • Advising investors as to their statutory requirements under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987.
  • Advising commercial landlords on the recovery of COVID-19 rent arrears.
