Did you know
Daniel Barrett is a solicitor in the Real Estate Dispute Resolution team. He advises on a broad range of contentious issues relating to both commercial and residential property, acting for developers, investors, landlords, and tenants.
Daniel regularly assists with business lease renewals, forfeiture claims, breach of covenant claims, contractual disputes, and general portfolio management.
As a member of the firm's Building Safety Group, Daniel is often asked to advise on building safety matters. He works closely with the firm's construction and corporate teams to ensure his clients receive comprehensive strategic advice across the board.
Daniel has a particular interest in leasehold enfranchisement and is regularly instructed by both landlords and tenants in connection with complex collective enfranchisements and lease extensions. Clients value his ability to translate the complex statute that governs such matters into simple, easy-to-navigate processes.
Daniel is a member of the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners and the Property Litigation Association.

- Acting for landlords and tenants in residential lease extensions under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993, in which issues of significant value are in dispute.
- Acting for a national retailer on a new tenancy of its flagship store against a landed estate landlord who opposed renewal due to redevelopment.
- Acting for a US-based company in connection with the recovery of rent arrears at a London office block it owned.
- Advising on the provisions of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the obligations of landlords and tenants arising from it.
Daniel is a keen football fan. He's followed Tottenham all over Europe - as far as Tbilisi.
