London law firm Howard Kennedy is delighted to announce it has voted to select Making the Leap as its charity partner for 2022-2024.
Making the Leap, an innovative grassroots societal change charity based in London, aims to transform the futures of young people from less-advantaged socio-economic backgrounds in the UK by providing training to boost their aspirations and develop their skills, confidence, and outlook in choosing and succeeding with a career.
Every two years, employees at Howard Kennedy vote to select a charity partner aligned to the firm's values to support through charitable giving, fundraising, and volunteering initiatives, as a key part of the broader responsible business vision to inclusively and sustainably support its people, clients, community and the environment. The firm’s responsible business strategy is informed by a materiality assessment and designed to be consistent with the principles of internationally recognised guidance from the UN Global Compact and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Katie Pour, Responsible Business Manager at Howard Kennedy commented: “We’re hugely excited to be supporting Making the Leap, a charity voted for by our people, that is dedicated to increasing access to opportunity for young people from less advantaged backgrounds. Our people are truly committed to our charity partnerships, which is why it’s key that the choice is made by all of us – and I'm sure I speak for the whole firm when I say we’re excited to get started.”
“As a responsible business, supporting the community in which we live, and work is important to us. To impact and drive sustainable change through our social impact programmes, we collaborate with community organisations working to tackle important societal issues where we feel we can make the most difference including promoting equality of opportunity and access to justice.”
Tunde Banjoko OBE, Founder and CEO at Making the Leap added: “We are delighted to have been chosen as Howard Kennedy’s charity partner for 2022-2024. The incredible team at Howard Kennedy are clearly passionate about supporting the futures of the young people we work with. This fantastic partnership will go a long way in helping us transform many young lives, not just through Howard Kennedy’s generous fundraising efforts and company match funding, but through their company-wide engagement in our volunteering opportunities.”
Fantastic fundraising efforts throughout Howard Kennedy, supported by matched funding and donations from the firm, raised more than £100,000 from 2018 – 2021 for Centrepoint, helping to tackle youth homelessness in the UK.
