Cia Manes joined Howard Kennedy in December 2009 and is a member of the International Team. Cia specialises in Islamic Finance and Banking and is ‘Of Counsel (Qualified in Quebec)’ at Howard Kennedy. Cia is qualified in both Common and Civil law and combines her Italian/Canadian legal background in her Islamic Finance practice internationally. Cia possesses a strong Islamic and Sharia’a background which she has been able to apply to Sharia’a international advisory and transactional work in North America, Europe and the Middle East. She has a thorough understanding of Islamic / Sharia’a / Quranic law and has been involved in a wide variety of Sharia’a based transactions for a diverse range of Islamic financial institutions. She has also worked in non-Islamic banking projects relating to shipping, projects and acquisition finance including structured finance, international securities and collective investments. Cia has also written articles and presented seminars internationally. Cia is fluent in English, French and Italian.
